WeatherXM is a decentralized weather network that uses community owned small physical stations to collect weather data and reward station owners.

HQ: Athens, Attiki, Greece

Active Markets: Global - Most stations in Europe, United States, coasts of Australia and South Africa

Problem Addressed

Traditional weather networks are generally built around stations on prominent buildings and city centers, meaning the data they collect is only applicable to a small locality. Weather forecast data is also critical to the agriculture, energy, and transport industries for accurate risk management and planning. Existing weather stations also have high transaction and operating costs, presenting problems with coordinating data across multiple stations.

Project Description

WeatherXM allows the distribution of stations across the community, allowing citizens to access local, accurate weather data, with no coordination needed with building owners or extensive operating costs. It sells 4 different types of devices ranging from from basic versions to premium bundles that can be assembled and installed outside someone’s home. After the device is installed, it’s connected to the WeatherXM network through their app and connected to a compatible wallet on the Arbitrum One Network. The station will then begin collecting data and users are rewarded after a Quality of Data algorithm assesses the quality of data with users receive the $WXM token.
